Telegram Desktop brings the popular mobile app to your desktop. The cloud-based instant messenger known for its security and privacy features can be used with smartphones and desktops seamlessly, as it keeps your conversations and contacts synced across different devices.

With Telegram Desktop installed on your PC, you can send text and voice messages to your friends, have group conversations, express yourself using stickers and emojis, and share all types of data with your contacts, including PDF, EXE, ZIP, and RAR files, just as you would do in the mobile version of the app. Likewise, it is possible to join and create channels and groups with up to 5000 members. When a new message arrives, Telegram will notify you with a sound alerts and pop-ups that you can configure.

Other features that make Telegram special are the ability to mention somebody in a conversation typing ‘@’, use hashtags, and recover chat information.

In terms of security and privacy options, messages sent via Telegram Desktop are also encrypted, but it is not possible to create Secret Chats in the PC version. In the settings, you will find options to set a passcode to block the app, enable two-factor authentication, and manage all open sessions.

Although it lacks the privacy features that made the smartphone app popular, the desktop version of Telegram looks great and lets you communicate with your friends faster and securely. In order to run Telegram, you need to have a working mobile phone number that can receive text messages.
